Viagra has become a cornerstone in men’s health for the past 15 years. If you have never heard of Viagra, first of all, where have you been? Second, it is a very popular medication that treats erectile dysfunction in men. In recent months the medication named as Viagra has been the talk of the town in Australia. It turns out the popular erectile dysfunction treatment has a couple of major benefits. Today’s topic is going to cover this new discovery and why it may be of help to you.
We all know that Viagra was initially designed to treat erectile dysfunction through the blood. In essence, Viagra works to increase blood flow and improve circulation throughout the body. This would allow men who use the medication to form natural erections provided there is some sexual stimulation to the penis. Recent studies suggest taking Viagra compared to taking a 100 – 200 milligram shot of testosterone. The Department of Internal Medicine, University of Texas Medical Branch suggests that taking one Viagra pill would produce the same effects of a weekly testosterone shot.
If you didn’t know testosterone (the male sex hormone) regulates a large number of processes in the male body. It’s responsible for our sex drive, bone mass, fat distribution, and our muscle size and strength. Without this hormone, men become sterile and unable to father children. While men produce testosterone naturally, studies show that men aged 50 and lower have less testosterone in their bodies compared to their fathers or grandfathers when they were the same age. Viagra has been helping men boost those low levels of testosterone and the difference is notable.
Viagra clinical efficacy
Eleven men participated in this study. Six were given a placebo and the other five were given Viagra. The results show that the men who took a placebo received no added benefits. However, those that took Viagra had a significant increase in muscle protein synthesis. If that sounds too scientific for you, it is just the process in which muscles grow. Men who have taken the medication have had great strides in their overall fitness routines. Subjects that were given Viagra where able to perform about 150% more repetitions of exercises than the group with the placebo. I think this is important to consider since high volume exercise is the primary driver of muscle growth. This means Viagra can essentially be used as a steroid without the negative side effects associated with steroid use.
Consult your physician first!
Now all of this sounds great, and it is in my opinion. However, I think it is important to realize that this is still a medication. Viagra does have a small list of side effects to consider before you take it. The most common side effects reported are an upset stomach, a headache, stuffy nose. Of course, you can circumvent the majority of those side effects by having some kind of food in your system. However, even that has a drawback since the medication will take longer to get into your system on a full stomach. If you are thinking about giving Viagra a try make sure you consult your doctor before use.
